QUICSEAL 607 is a specially formulated SBR latex admixture to improve the adhesion of screeds, renders, patching and repair mortars to concrete and cement-sand substrates as well as for bonding tiles.
It is also used as an admixture for cement and sand mortars to improve the quality of screeds and renders. Once cured, the screeds and renders are resistant to water, mild chemicals and weathering effects.
QUICSEAL 607 is suitable for used in contact with potable water when mix with cement-sand as a screed and render as well as a tile adhesive system.
Uses
Substrate Preparation
The substrates must be clean and sound, free of dust and loose particles. All loose particles, oil, grease, paint, wax or any substance that may inhibit adhesion must be removed.
Mould release agents or curing compound which are not suitable for subsequent finishes must also be removed from substrate surfaces by using wire brush, scabbler, or other means
Applications
Patching and Repairing
Dampen substrate but without ponding water and then apply a coat of QUICSEAL 607 or an adhesive slurry coat (see section on Adhesive Slurries) to improve the adhesion of patching mortars to the substrate. While the bonding agent is tacky, immediately apply QUICSEAL repair mortars or non-shrink grout
Bonding agent / Adhesive Slurries
For screeding or rendering onto waterproofing membranes, smooth concrete or precast concrete surfaces, a bonding agent or adhesive slurry coat should be applied to improve the adhesion of the screeds and renders to the substrate.
Damp the substrate and apply QUICSEAL 607 over concrete surfaces as a bonding coat. Cast the screed or new concrete while the bonding agent is still tacky.
For adhesive slurries, the recommended mixing ratio is as follow:
QUICSEAL 607 1 part by weight
Cement 1.5 parts by weight
Key Coats (Splash or Spatter Coats)
For rendering onto smooth concrete or precast surfaces, a key coat should be formed prior to screeding or rendering.
The recommended mixing ratio for key coat is:
QUICSEAL 607 1 part by weight
Cement 1.5 parts by weight
Sand 1.5 parts by weight
Screeds and Renders/Plasters
QUICSEAL 607 is mixed into cement-sand mortars to improve the cohesion and adhesion strength as well as the water resistance and quality of screeds and renders/plasters.
The recommended mixing ratio for screeds and renders:
QUICSEAL 607 1 part by weight
Water 3 parts by weight
Cement 8 parts by weight
Sand 24 parts by weight
Render coats should not exceed more than 15mm thickness per application. Subsequent coats should be applied only when the previous coat has sufficiently hardened.
Adhesive/Bonding Mortars
QUICSEAL 607 is mixed with cement and fine sand or with QUICSEAL 602 as a thin-set adhesive for bonding tiles.
The recommended mixing ratio with cement and fine sand:
QUICSEAL 607 1 part by weight
Cement 2 parts by weight
Fine sand 2 parts by weight
The recommended mixing ratio with
QUICSEAL 602: QUICSEAL 607 1 part by weight
QUICSEAL 602 4 parts by weight
Mixing
Stir QUICSEAL 607 and pour into a clean container. Add the appropriate quantity of cement and sand and mix slowly until a homogeneous consistency. Use the appropriate tool to apply the mix onto the substrate.
Coverage
Approx 0.2 ~ 0.3 kg/m2 of QUICSEAL 607 is required for adhesive slurries, bonding aid and key coats.
Approx 0.8 ~ 1 kg/m2 of QUICSEAL 607 is required for screeds and renders for every 20mm thickness.
Approx 0.5 ~ 2 kg/m2 of QUICSEAL 607 for thin set adhesive depending on tile size and substrate condition
The quantity of QUICSEAL 607 for each application should be adjusted to workability depending on the application requirement.
Cleaning
All tools and hands may be cleaned with abundant water before the mortar sets. After setting, cleaning becomes very difficult but can usually be helped by mechanical means.
Packaging
QUICSEAL 607 is supplied in 5, 20 and 200 kg drums.
Storage
12 months in a cool and ventilated place in the original packaging
